Add a play button for .mp3, .wav, etc. so you can play music in the app
When someone sends me a song, it's annoying that i have to download it to be able to play it. Add a play option, similar to Soundcloud or Youtube embedding.
I would like to be able to attach music files to the message. What would they be reproduced without downloading.
mp3, wav, ogg, flac, midi (if possible)
Along with this implement waveforms being shown so no ear rape or anything can be sent?
This can be supported now that the mp3 patent from Fraunhofer IIS has expired:

Shouldn't be that hard to implement, Betterdiscord already has a plugin that does this so im imagining not being that hard.
The Embedded MP3 Support
should go for every app though sent

This is a good idea! Then nobody will get wannacry from discord.
Just leaving this here :)

OMG YES PLEASE!!!!!!
Embedded MP4 would be nice as well. If MP3 were added it probably wouldn't take much more to do MP4.
Yes, Marshall, everyone knows you're downloading it to play the file. What would be nice is being able to play the file right from Discord.
You know you have to download every file you want to play back, do you?
What you refer to regarding Youtube is "streaming" but that must be supported by the given file.
Would love support for more than one format! .wav would be a must!

I'd definitely appreciate the ability to send ogg, opus, or webm files that are embedded

Definitely needed function!
This should be possible for both sending files as well as direct http links. As discord/electron utilizes chromium, most audio formats are already supported - just a matter of implementing the UI for it.
