Category Within A Category (Sub-Category)
I like the implementation of the categories for discord. It makes servers look a lot more neater and better to look at, but there are some people that would like more the the main category because sometimes it isn't enough. Having a second layer would be enough, for example:
(apology for any grammar/spelling mistakes)
I would actually really appreciate this on my server too...right now it's a mess in some of the categories :/
Picture scrolling through this:
> Newbies Start Here
> Server Stuff [TEXT]
> Assorted Crazy [TEXT]
> General [VOICE]
= The Lounge
= The Parlour
= Discussion Room
= Sensitive Noodle's Room
> General [TEXT]
> Guild Wars 2 [VOICE]
= GW2: Lounge
= GW2: PvP
= GW2: WvW
> Guild Wars 2 [TEXT]
> Overwatch [VOICE]
= OW: Lounge
= OW: Quick Play
= OW: Competitive
= OW: Arcade/Custom
> Overwatch [TEXT]
>Other Games [VOICE]
> Personal Rooms [VOICE]
> The Stream Scene [VOICE]
= Stream Room One
= Stream Room Two
> Admin Stuff
= Office Of The Forest
> AFK PIT
= Break Room
Now Picture This, for the games and general sections, etc imagine having Sub-Categories.
= Overwatch [TEXT]
= Overwatch [VOICE]
(ETC FOR ALL ABOVE)
The categories and sub-categories being able to be collapsed would allow everything to look SO MUCH NEATER! Right now, scrolling through my server is literally like in those cartoons where people have a list and it is the biggest thing you have ever seen! Sub-Categories are definitely needed.
Anyone who says that "this is unneeded" (*cough cough* KensonPlays *cough cough*) is completely wrong. My friends and I have a Discord server where we talk about video ideas. This results in one category filled with text channels and voice channels (one of each per idea). Sub-categories (even sub-sub-categories) would make organization MUCH better.
This is defiantly needed, theirs been multiple occasions when I’ve thought to myself: “Man, I really wish their were Sub-Categories.” You have my vote.
This is needed. I’ve ran into 3 times now where I tell myself “You knownthey should add sub categories into discord.” I feel it could help server be more organized. You get my vote.

no this is definitely needed. I run on a screen which is 2560x1440, I had to set discord to 67 zoom level just to take a picture of every category in my discord server. subcategories are bigtime needed especially for much larger communities and larger servers who have plans for expansion. and all these categories are collapsed. can you imagine the headache having to hunt for the area which you need to go among so many? https://imgur.com/a/Sg6VE
This is unneeded. Just create another category with the same permissions and/or prefix.
(no vote needed)
We need this bad, On my server I have something for every rank, For example ADMIN:
ADMIN: *The Category*
----------------- *channel used to divide*
It would be nice for this feature cause we could legit just have 2 separate sub-categories so one voice and one text. We need this discord bad.
Please Discord We need this
The addition of categories was amazing, to organize servers better, being able to put my channels under certain categories so its easier to find. But basically, im asking if its possible to add subcategories, for example, on my discord server, i have a games category, and in it i have a list of text channels, but with sub categories, you would open that category. and see other sub categories, that have their specified subject in them. (EXP Games>MMO>WoW, BlackDesertOnline, Tera ext)

This would be amazing to see and I can say this wouldn’t be only good for gaming communities but also Role Play communities as well especially when you have a very large community with a few hundred players it would make it easier to compact down multiples of the same type of rp chat within our various categories we already have.

just want to give my inpute here on this, I started using voice services on a community a while back for a game server on garrys mod. they used teamspeak. 1 of the most used things about it was that they had a category for various things such as "Trainers HQ" for training new players, staff channels category, event planning category and so on. Within some of these categories they had various subcategories for things such as waiting rooms for people trying out for these various roles, a meeting room that only certain people could go into with authorization and they could then pull people in for interviewing. and many other uses for these subcategories. it also helps with hiding higher staff channels from lower staff seeing them, providing layers and structure. we also used it as regular players too, each individual group had its own section in the teamspeak and commanders were given control over it. what some did was setup a officers section within the command section. officers of this small group could then be able to control only that section while commanders controlled almost everything and server staff controlled far more.
This would also help communities who own multiple servers so they can organize things such as their TF2 servers desperately from their individual gmod servers or ARMA 3 servers and so on.
The only other thing that I would say needs to be added to the subcategory idea would be the ability to specify if it should start collapsed or not in settings so that it doesn't instantly clutter a new users screen
We should be able to put subcategories into categories.
Sub categories, as in categories within categories should be allowed to further organize channels, make it at the same level as the text channels, and standard channels can be put above or under the category wherever.
Hello, I apologize in advance for my bad English because It's Google translate. I want to ask you to add a function to the server with which you can add subcategories to categories. Thanks for attention.
This would make Discord so much easier and organized for those of us in gaming communities where we have guilds in different games. Each with their own sets of allies/nemesis' and public raiding. Please make this a thing soon!!
Categories were great, this would make it even better! This adds so many management possibilities.
